Preparations Are Ongoing in Porto Rotondo For Worlds, Audi Day Activities Soon Anticipated

11 September 2013

In Porto Rotondo, where you can still breathe a bit of summertime, measurement checks have started on boats that will ultimately give life to the forthcoming Melges 32 World Championship, one of the most highly anticipated events of the 2013 sailing season, organised by B.Plan Sport&Events (BPSE) in full collaboration with the Melges Europe and the International Melges 32 Class.

This final act of the Audi Sailing Series, hosted by the Yacht Club Porto Rotondo with the support of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, will showcase racing starting on Wednesday, 18 September until Sunday, 22 September.

A dramatic week of sailing and social events, in addition to some very intense racing will be the highlights. Both at sea and ashore, 26 attending teams are studying in detail the regatta field and fine tuning their boats at the Regatta Village.

These activities will also involve the Audi staff, busy with all preparations before the Audi Day, scheduled in Porto Rotondo next Tuesday, 17 September.

The great success of this initiative during past events, pushed all organisers to increase the program offering 3 challenges: a consumption control, a blindfolded drive and a parking test.

Dedicated to all teams participating in the Melges 32 World Championship, car challenges will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on 17 September at the Audi point in front of the Scambio Parking area in Porto Rotondo.

The first three classified teams will win two tickets each to take part in an Audi Sports Car Experience, Driving Course scheduled 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 23 September at the Speedway in Mores, a few kilometers away from Sassari and Alghero.

Those not competing in the water will have the possibility to part in the Test Drive experience driving the latest car models produced by the Ingolstadt factory.

The Audi stand at Yacht Club Porto Rotondo will be available to give useful information anyone interested and curious driving an Audi car.
