Great Performances In Genoa For Tavatuy, Asante Sana and Synergy GT

5 October 2014

Genova, Italy - PRO Gianni Belgrano made the best decision to set the warning at an early 08.00 for the last day of racing in Genoa at the 2014 Audi-Tron Sailing Series for the Melges 32. A wonderful 10-13 knots of breeze allowed for races three and four to complete.

The two additional races have completely changed the final act of the 2014 edition, organised by B.Plan Sport&Events (BPSE) in cooperation with Melges Europe and the Circolo Vele Vernazzolesi.

Team Tavauty helmed by Pavel Kuznetsov delivered an amazing 6-2 result making for its very first major success in the Audi-Tron Sailing Series.

Valentin Zavadnikov’s Team Synergy also won today's two races and have been crowned the winner — the champion of the 2014 Audi-Tron Melges 32 Sailing Series. “This sailing season has been amazing, full of important successes – only a few weeks ago I celebrated another victory at the RC44 World Championship on Bronenosec and just a few minutes ago, I was on the highest podium placement of the Melges 32 Audi-Tron Sailing Series together with Synergy GT crew,” said tactician Michele Ivaldi. “I'm very happy because we have reached a prestigious result that pays back the boat owner and team efforts made throughout these hard fought 5 acts. No doubt our strenghts have been our regular placements and teamwork always focused on its main goal.”

Second overall went to Mauro Mocchegiani on Giacomel Audi e-tron. Third place overall went to Andrea Ferarri aboard Spirit of Nerina.

The Melges 32 Audi-Tron Sailing Series has officially concluded with the participation of 20 teams for a total of 35 total sailed races (5 discards).
