The Melges 32 Miami Grand Prix Regatta happens this coming weekend — 08-11 March 2007 in fabulous Miami, Florida presented by title sponsor ACURA and organized by Premiere Racing. Looking ahead to this weekends rivalry — sixteen teams are slated to participate as the action carries over from January's Key West battleground to Miami's luxurious clear blue waters.

In attendance is multiple Mumm 30 World Champion and 2007 Key West Race Week/Midwinter Champion Claudio Recchi from Italy on 'ITA-093 Let's Roll'; Tom Neill is in from Chicago, Illinois on 'USA-136 Nitemare'; Caleb Everett on 'USA-145 Stewball' from San Francisco, California; and Jeff Ecklund from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on 'USA-32 STAR' just to name a few of those favored to do well.

Growth within the fleet is obvious as last year, only five boats marched onto the course with Brian Porter on 'USA-128 Full Throttle' from Winnetka, Illinois pulling off the win. Porter's expertise in a number of Melges class boats played to his advantage as he triumphed over Rick Orchard on 'USA-126 Grins' from Flowery Branch, Georgia and 2007 St. Petersburg NOOD Champion Marty Kullman and Mike Carroll on 'USA-131 New Wave' from St. Petersburg, Florida. Both Orchard and Kullman/Carroll will be in contention again for the 2007 Miami title.

The three day event will produce some of the most dynamic racing seen this year. High-powered and action-packed under glorious 80 degree tempatures — spring and summer sailing is on the way! On the other hand, the weather conditions are predicted to be quite the opposite. The North Sails Miami Grand Prix Weather Forecast predicts no more than 5-10 knots on Thursday. Friday will produce the best wind velocities with the day beginning light and building to just over 10 knots as it progresses. Both Saturday and Sunday will be exceptionally light with the breeze not foreseen to top 10 knots. Light air, heavy air the Melges 32 fleet will be the fleet to watch! With two, 2007 events already in the bag the great build up will be towards the U.S. National Championship set for 13-15 July in Newport, Rhode Island at the very presigious New York Yacht Club.

Adding to the excitement check out Kattack Race Replays! This is very cool technology! Kattack will have both their Race Player data and videos available so that you can watch the races at whatever level of detail you desire.

Daily reports and FULL RESULTS will be available each day after racing!
