COMPETITOR ANNOUNCEMENT NO. 1: 2015 Melges 32 Blue Water Series, Nationals - Early Reminders

20 October 2015

We are a few weeks away from the first event of the 2015/16 Melges 32 Blue Water Series, the 2015 Melges 32 National Championships.  Below is a list of announcements and reminders as you make preparations for your teams:

Dockage at Bahia Mar
If you have not already, please contact Sasha or Megan at the Bahia Mar Marina (954.627.6309) to make your slip reservations. The class has a bulk reservation for the fleet, however you are responsible for making your own reservations and payments directly with the Bahia Mar Marina.

Stepping Masts/Launching/Haul-Out
The Melges 32 Class will be working directly with a local crane company to provide mast stepping and launching service at the cheapest price possible. The crane will be available at the Bahia Mar Marina beginning on Monday afternoon, November 30th and continuing through Thursday morning, December 3rd. Please contact Class Manager Sam Rogers to schedule a launching time.

The crane will be available to haul-out on Sunday afternoon after racing, and most of Monday. Crane fees are not included in the registration fee and will need to be paid directly to the crane operator.  We will have pricing closer to the event.

Training Day Amendment
To limit expenses and level the playing field, a restriction was placed on training days for the Bue Water Series.  An amendment to the NOR has been made to allow 3 sanctioned training days prior to the US Nationals.

Skipper's Meeting/Lauderdale Speaking Engagement
Amending the NOR to accommodate the Lauderdale Youth Sailing Foundation Dinner, the Skippers Meeting will take place at Lauderdale Yacht Club at 5:30, with registration open from 4:30 to 6:30. All teams are invited to attend the dinner which will feature guest speaker Gary Jobson. It is typically a great night for all guests and Lauderdale Youth Sailing, reservations and more details can be found at lycsf.org.

Friday Night BBQ - Team Quest
Grant Hood and his Quest Team from Toronto cordially invite all teams to a Bar-B-Que Dinner on Friday night at Grant's waterfront residence in Ft. Lauderdale. This is going to be a special evening and a highlight of the weekend. Please make plans to attend this special event, more details will be released as we get closer.

Saturday Night Surf N Turf Buffet
Included in every entry fee is the world famous Lauderdale Yacht Club Surf N Turf Buffet for a team of 8. Additional dinners can be purchased at registration for this legendary feast.

The 2015/16 Blue Water Series is shaping up nicely with the North American Fleet returning to strength and gaining momentum for the 2016 Worlds. Please contact Sam Rogers (952.426.2330) with anything you need prior to the event.

See you in Sunny Lauderdale!!!
