Melges 32 Red At Flat Chat In 35 Knots In Torquay

3 September 2008

As Published by Offshore Rules - By Justin Chisholm - Today we organised a Melges 32 test sail for some prospective owners and journalist Andi Robertson who was putting together a feature for Yachts and Yachting Magazine. Serial M32 owner Joe Woods kindly lent us his boat, crew and rib for the day in Torquay.

The sun was shining and the wind was at around twenty five knots when the boat left the marina but the breeze quickly built to a steady thirty five with the gusts touching forty.

Upwind was a bit of a struggle but the twenty knot downwind ride was spectacular to watch. Enjoy the video.

Our thanks to Joe for lending his boat and crew and in particular to Ruairidh Scott for the outstanding job on the helm and to Tim Edwards for organising everything and getting wet on the bow. The Red team fly out to San Francisco this weekend to compete in the Big Boat Series. Best of luck.
