Special Invitation From Ben Beer To Enjoy Some Caribbean Sailing

7 December 2008

Dear Melges 32 owners,

For those of you who do not know me. My name is Ben Beer and I was born and raised in St Thomas and have been racing sailboats all my life.

I would like to invite all of you to come to the Caribbean and enjoy our sailing. I do not have to convince you why you should come but here are some reasons that will make it easier and more affordable. I have already been working closely with a shipping company to try and get the cost of shipping down through a group rate as well as sponsorship with permission from the owners. We can potentially offer free docking in St. Thomas. With hotel rates and other expenses about equal the cost of doing a regatta in the Caribbean is about the same as doing one here in the states.

Potentially here is how it would work.
After Key West the boats can be shipped round trip from Florida to St Thomas. There is no need to put them in any other configuration then what you would do to trailer them. The boats would be received in St Thomas and stored until the first regatta. St Thomas would be used as a home base for all the regattas and we would store and care for the boats there between regattas. Except for St. Martin and Antigua all the regattas listed below are within 30 miles of St. Thomas or closer. The boats could potentially leave South Florida in the last week of January and be back by the end of April or sooner.h

All the regattas will allow you to race class rules and will give you your own start.

I have only put a few of the details down here for your consideration. I hope that this will spark your interest and we can work together to get the majority of the class to the Caribbean for some really fantastic racing. I will be getting a firm quote for shipping and working on sponsorship for the class to cut the shipping costs. For more details and information please contact Ben Beer directly at my e-mail address or cell phone at 340 998 6203
