European Melges 32 : Save The Dates

22 December 2008

More Melges 32 teams than ever are expected to compete in the 2009 Audi Sailing Series and as a precursor to that series, the International Melges 32 Class Association in collaboration with Melges Europe, have put together an exciting winter schedule:

Melges 32 Winter Tune Up Weekend in Ancona - January 31st – February 1st 2009

Given the great success of the previous two winter tune up weekends, this next one is a must do event for owners and crews looking to get up to speed for the 2009 season. The programme for the weekend includes: starting practice, coaching sessions, feedback on technique, practice races and video debriefs. We are expecting a minimum of eight teams to attend this event so to make sure you don’t miss out book your place now by contacting Luisa Bambozzi at Melges Europe. More logistical information can be found at: http://www.melges32.blogspot.com/

Primo Cup Regatta in Monte Carlo - February 13th – 15th 2009
In 2008 the Primo Cup marked the debut of the Melges 32 Class at a major European regatta and this year the International Melges 32 Class Association is delighted to be returning to Monte Carlo for what promises to be another great event at this classic European venue. The Primo Cup will be the first Melges 32 class start of 2009 and will provide a vital early opportunity for the teams to line up against each other.

Many teams have already committed to compete in Monte Carlo and we are expecting a turnout in double figures for this European season opener. The official Notice of Race is attached to this press release and further logistical information and accommodation suggestions will follow in the next few days.

Melges Europe Melges 32 Speed Clinic in Fraglia Vela Malcesine, Lake Garda - March 27th – 29th 2009
With the first of the Melges 32 2009 Audi Sailing Series regattas taking place a few weeks later at the same venue, what better way for owners and crews to warm up before the circuit starts, than an intense three day clinic run by Federico Michetti and Olympic coach Guglielmo Vatteroni? On the water activities will include starting practice, speed tests, general boat handling exercises and short practice races. As if this were not enough, there is also talk of a Melges 32 crew party on the Saturday night.

Following the clinic, the boats will be stored at Fraglia Vela Malcesine until the first of the 2009 Audi Sailing Series Regattas which takes place from 17th-19th April.

Book your place now at the Melges Europe Speed Clinic by contacting Luisa Babozzi at Melges Europe.

We hope to see as many of you as possible at one or all of the events on our winter schedule. If you have any questions about these events, the 2009 Audi Sailing Series or anything to do with your Melges 32 please do not hesitate to contact Federico or Luisa at Melges Europe.

In the meantime, on behalf of everyone at Melges Europe and the International Melges 32 Class Association, we wish you and your families a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year!
