2009 Melges 32 ECC Early Entry Deadline, May 1, North Sails Presents A FREE, Two-Day Speed Clinic To Participants

Rye, N.Y. (April 28) - All teams planning to attend the 2009 East Coast Championship (ECC) on May 15-17, hosted by the American Yacht Club (AYC) in Rye, New York are strongly encouraged to get their entries in as soon as possible. Register Online Today! The early entry deadline is this Friday, May 1, otherwise late submissions will be subject to an additional fee.

The American Yacht Club is aiming to deliver a very upscale event that offers up great racing, paired with an incredible northeast attitude that undoubtly will be first class.

Some of the best racing is yet to come and guaranteed at the Rye, N.Y. venue. Teams such as Jim Swartz and his very strong USA-007 Q Melges 32 with Gavin Brady on tactics alongside Morgan Larson and James Gale acting as crew will be in attendance. The International Melges 32 Class looks to see great things from Jason Carroll and his USA-128 Argo team. Carroll and his team are right on the verge of great success, getting better and better with each event — definitely THE boat to watch. John Taylor on USA-1315 Ninkasi have committed, as has Alex Jackson on USA-174 Leenabarca. Both Jackson and Taylor have also been steady on the improvement trail.

A very special, speed clinic opportunity has been graciously extended on the behalf of North Sails One Design starting on Wednesday, May 13 concluding on Thursday, May 14. Mike Coe and team have developed a robust curriculum that specifically targets Melges 32 tactics and boat handling manuevers. This is a unique chance for you and your team to go out, learn a lot, then put it into action.

The list is long — rig tuning, speed testing, starting practice, mini races and local knowledge sessions are all topics slated to be covered. Industry leaders as well as prominent class figures will divulge their tips, tricks and secrets.
