18 June 2009

With summer officially just around the corner the International Melges 32 Class is ready to race at some of the hottest northeast and midwest venues including the Coastal Living Sail Newport Regatta, the Harbor Springs Championship and the Verve Cup.

We can’t stress enough all the fun you will miss if you choose not to do Nationals in Marina Del Rey on July 24-26. But if you can’t travel to the West Coast, here are some other really great events that will at least keep the blood pumping.

This historic city is embedded with maritime culture and tradition. The Coastal Living Sail Newport Regatta is a three-day regatta held at the height of the summer sailing season. Newport is a fantastic venue because of the variety of conditions can range tremendously, therefore the top title is one that hard-fought yet well deserved. The Melges 32 loves Newport, as it has played host many times to the Nationals.
