MELGES 32 SUPPORTS JUNIOR SAILORS ON THE FINAL DAY OF RACING

5 December 2006

05 DECEMBER 2006 On the final day of the event the Lauderdale scheduled a Youth Sailing Day. Each boat took a youth sailor on board and placed them in the stern of the boat in order for them to experience true sportboat speed. The Melges 32 is perfect for this type of arrangement. Youth sailors from the Lauderdale Yacht Club sailed the boats out and back in on Sunday as well as helped with the racing on Sunday. The enthusiasm was amazing. Erica Reinicke sailed on the Italian boat - while sailing out of the harbor and to the race course the team on the rail of the Melges 32 "Let's Roll" did not even know that the 13 year old was sailing the boat upwind. She had the boat up to speed, correct angle of heel and was sailing smooth in the moderate chop. This Optimist and 420 sailor was in charge and sailing great!
