Premiere Racing is certainly pleased to see the Melges 32 class’ strong participation in Acura Key West 2007.

Race week is just around the corner and we want to take this opportunity to be sure that we are all on the same page regarding the staging, launching and dockage of your boats.

We’ve heard from Andy Burdick that most, if not all, of the Melges 32s plan to utilize the Truman Annex Navy Basin & Waterfront Property (TWP) and its ramp area. As some of you are new to Key West (or this facility), we’d like to provide some specifics to aid your preparation:

• Advance registration for any use of the TWP is a must
• The TWP application (DOWNLOAD) and you can fax or email it to us
• December 22 is the deadline for all registrations (late fees apply after that)
• Seawall dockage is available at the facility

Many of you have arranged for slips at Key West marinas. If you do not have a slip and plan to either drysail at the TWP ramp or use the inner seawall for berthing, you can do so, but there are things that you need to know about this facility:

• This is a temporary facility, not a full service marina
• There are no slips per se – boats tie up to the inner seawall
• Occasionally conditions can produce considerable chop and you should come prepared with adequate fenders, a fender board and extra dock lines
• The City and the Navy both have rules and regulations that must be adhered to (you’ll find details about this on the application)

We would like to point out that the Truman Annex facility is available to us by special arrangements with the City of Key West and the US Navy, and is staffed by our race week volunteers. So we ask that you abide by the rules and regulation of this facility, and cooperate fully with the personnel onsite.

Please fee free to contact www.premiere-racing.com with any questions you may have. You’ll find more information, the applications and photos of the area on our web site in the marinas sections.

We look forward to hearing back from those of you who will be using the facility. We thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.

Best regards,
