Fantastica Laid Down The Law In Lerici

28 March 2010

Lerici, Italy - 28 March 2010 - Lanfranco Cirillo on Fantastica won the first Audi Melges 32 Sailing Series 2010 event that finished today with only one race.

Over the last three days Fantastica did not make any mistakes, and from today, Cirillo’s team laid down the law in the Melges 32 fleet. The new tactician, Michele Paoletti kept the team in the first position for four of seven total races, but most importantly was their patience, determination and smart tactical choices that always delivered a positive result. Moreover, the boat seamed to have a major speed thanks to the precise direction of Dede De Luca and Stefano Rizzi.

In spite of Fantastica’s power, Mauro Moccheggiani, the owner of Rush Diletta, reached the second position with 13 points special thanks to new tactician Matteo Ivaldi, who delivered a solid performance and balance during the regatta. Because of that, and of the collapse of some very important adversaries, he was able to achieve such a great result.

Third place is occupied by champion Carlo Albertini on Calvi Network finishing the event with an identical score to that of Filippo Pacinotti on Brontolo. Pacinotti’s Brontolo was happy because during the very difficult last race plagued by light and shifty breezes.

Luca Lalli’s B Lin Sailing.com seemed to be the best new team in attendance with the help of Lorenzo Bressani as tactician. But, despite a great first day (2,2,3), Lalli failed to have the boat speed required and missed the shifts. The final race of the event, Lalli finished twelfth, however their early acceleration to the forefront of the fleet proves they can be in contention to win.

Lerici has marked a great start for the Melges 32. All eyes now turn to April 17, where the first event will commence for the Audi Melges 20, guaranteed to be as spectacular as this one.
