2010 Melges California Cup: One More to Go!

25 July 2010

San Francisco Melges Race Week 2010 is a standalone event open to the Melges 20, 24 and 32 classes. Hosted by The San Francisco Yacht Club in Belvedere, this year’s event promises to be a great one: it will be the Melges 24 US Gold Cup (one of three nationally-ranked events), as well as a “tune-up” regatta for the Melges 32 fleet before their World Championship in San Francisco in September.

San Francisco Bay
Blessed with consistent strong westerly/northwesterly thermally-generated winds (15-25 knots), San Francisco Bay is both a physical and a tactical place to race. Protected from large open ocean swells, the Bay’s strong currents and stunning backdrops make it one of the finest sailing venues in the World.

The San Francisco Yacht Club
The San Francisco Yacht Club is the oldest yacht club west of the Mississippi in North America. The club, with its tranquil setting in Belvedere cove and superb harbor, is widely recognized as the premier yachting facility on the West coast. It operates a year round facility, including the harbor, a dry sail area, a full-service restaurant, and bar. The club has a very active junior sailing program and all members are committed to the Corinthian traditions of yachting. Visit: www.sfyc.org
