Gold Cup Hustle And Bustle

1 December 2010

Wednesday marked an initial day of preparation for the deeply talented Melges 32 fleet as 21 teams prepare for the 2010 Gold Cup Regatta hosted by the Lauderdale Yacht Club (LYC). Bahia Mar, where most of the boats are docked, is buzzing with anticipation of the excitement and heated competition yet to come. Teams are checking every aspect of the boats, applying the final tweaks and managing sail inventories hoping to select just the right combination.

For the next few days, the weather in Ft. Lauderdale looks as though it will cooperate nicely. Three days of great racing are planned and a wonderful array of social gatherings are planned too!

There is plenty going on, and with Thursday being the last official day of preparation, surely it will be a little hectic. From final weigh-in, registration, practice and making that final sail selection to declare, this Gold Cup is destined to be one of the best ever.

MEGA MEDIA
Tell your friends, family and loved ones — the Melges 32 Gold Cup will be broadcasted via two media outlets. Sail 22's all new Sailing Updates and Sail Groove have teamed up to bring as-it-happens coverage from the water as well as post-racing sailor interviews. It will be a great way to get the play-by-play so do plan to tune-in.
