2013 Melges 32 Virgin Islands Sailing Series Logistics and Planning Document Issued

The International Melges 32 Class Association invites teams worldwide to participate in the 2013 Virgin Islands Sailing Series (M32VISS).

Finally the long awaited M32VISS Logistics and Planning Companion has arrived! This document contains comprehensive information about the M32VISS including shipping, event hosting, accommodations and dockage. Owners and boat captains can plan and confirm participation based on the information provided within the document. Teams are encouraged to confirm attendance as soon as possible!

In addition to the Logistics and Planning Companion, Crowley Maritime (USVI) and Tropical Shipping (BVI) have furnished shipping proposals as well as Kestrel's Logistics and Pricing Sheet. The Moorings, Sunsail and Footloose have put forth some wonderful accommodation proposals in the way of charter catamarans.

Racing in the Caribbean is an easy three-step process. First, provide early indication and/or confirmation of participation to IM32CA Admin, Joy Dunigan by Friday, September 7, 2012 via e-mail. Second, review shipping options and make a shipping decision by October 15, 2012. Boats will ship immediately following Key West Race Week 2013. The final step is to review accommodations/charter catamaran options, and make reservations ASAP! Please quote the booking code:M32VISS when making reservations. There is a limited availability so make sure you are first to book!

The U.S and British Virgin Islands venue is a beautiful backdrop for an exciting, and all new winter/spring racing series. Surely, it will provide a high level sailing experience and extreme competition with 20+ boats indicating participation due to a very successful VISS promotional reception at the 2012 U.S National Championship.

The first event of the series will take place on February 21-24, 2013. The BVI SportBoat Regatta is scheduled to be held in Virgin Gorda, BVI and will be hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS).

Series event number two happens March 22-24, 2013. The International Rolex Regatta in St. Thomas is hosted by the St. Thomas Yacht Club in Cowpet Bay. The regatta format consists of buoy and coastal courses with several races each day.The year 2013 marks the 40th anniversary of the original Rolex sailing event worldwide. Rolex is certain to provide a series of lavish celebrations in a laid back atmosphere with plenty of food, drinks, music, and dancing nightly.

The third and final series event is scheduled for April 26-28, 2013. The Caribbean Championship will be held in the British Virgin Islands. The hosting facility will be announced at the 2012 World Championship in Newport.
