Congratulations Carlo Alberini, Audi Melges 32 Sailing Series 2009 Champion

Carlo Alberini on ITA-186 Calvi Network with Gabriele Benussi as tactician, Lorenzo Bodoni, Gaetano Di Granara, Alessandro Frizzarin, Sergio Blosi, Irene Bezzi and Fabio Gasperoni are Audi Melges 32 Sailing Series Champions!

Alberini competed at every event in the series and sailed extremely well. Over the course of four, intense events he slowly but surely moved into the lead position. In Cagliari, defending champion Claudio Recchi on ITA-93 Team 93 made an attempt to clinch the lead. Alberini on the other hand was out for the win taking the title by a sizable margin.

Additional kudos goes to Recchi's Team 93 for placing second in the Audi Melges 32 Sailing Series; a tough competitor who gave it his all to defend the title. Mauro Mocchegiani's Rush Diletta placed third, taking fourth place was Francesco Martino's Pilot Italia, and last but certainly not least coming in fifth overall Lorenzo Santini's Uka Uka Racing.

Special thanks to all teams for participating in the Melges 32 Audi Sailing Series 2009. The International Melges 32 Class, in particular would like to thanks and recognize Series title sponsor Audi for another amazing season of racing. It is certain that 2010 will be equally as great. Special thanks to the great support of Melges Europe, Melges Performance Sailboats and all the host clubs. The International Melges 32 Class Association fleet looks forward to another great year of competition in 2010.
