Melges World League, in Villasimius Fremito d’Arja is the first winner of the Sardinia Rally

Villasimius (CA), 29 August 2021 - On a day with light wind, after the spectacular conditions of the last two days, in Villasimius the Melges World League crowned the winner of the fourth act of the seasonal circuit: in the Melges 20 fleet, the winner responds once again to the name of Dario Levi's Fremito d'Arja.

The victory achieved by Fremito d'Arja at the end of a day characterized by a light and shifty breeze, in stark contrast to the conditions of the previous days, allows Dario Levi's crew to lengthen their pace and consolidate the leadership in the seasonal ranking, whose final order will be determined only at the end of the last regatta of the year, scheduled in Puntaldia at the end of September.

On the podium, behind Fremito d’Arja with only two points of delay, Nika by Vladimir Prosikhin in second place and Russian Bogatyrs by Igor Rytov in third.

In the first regatta of the day, Pietro Loro Piana with Gone Squatching scored the second bullet of his series, while the victory achieved by Kindako in the seventh and last race of the series allowed the crew by Stefano Visintin to recover crucial positions, closing the event in seventh place overall, but above all establishing himself as winner in the Corinthian division, reserved for non-professionals.

“At the end of this exciting series of races, I feel like saying that Kindako has given everything he could. We re-entered the competition with the "historic" crew formation, except for the new engagement in the bow, and things on board went well, allowing us to achieve this important result. We hope to maintain the positive trend in the European Championship as well "commented Stefano Visintin.

Second place in the Corinthian fleet for Marco Giannini's Neodent and third place for Bianca Limonta's Team Bianca.

The balance at the top of the standings remains unchanged for the Melges 32 fleet, which completed two races in the late afternoon. La Pericolosa, with a fourth and a second place today, maintains control of the ranking, followed by Mascalzone. On the other hand, the Russian crew of the former world champions from Tavatuy rises to third place, followed closely by Homanit and Wilma.

The races of the Melges 32 fleet will resume tomorrow at 10.30: up to three regattas will be held, at the end of which the winner of the Sardinia Rally 2021 will be revealed.
