Melges 32 World Championship, La Pericolosa moves forward

Villasimius (Italy), 2 September 2021 - It’s again the North-Easterly breeze to set the pace of the Melges 32 World Championship, event that started yesterday and will last unti Saturday 4 September in Villasimius: even today, Day 2 of the Worlds, three races have been completed, the maximum foreseen by the regulations, bringing to six races and one discard the total of the series.

The undisputed leader is, for the second consecutive day, Christian Schwoerer with La Pericolosa who, with a third place as the worst partial result in the whole scoreline (1-3-1 today) dominates the ranking with a net score of 7 points.

Follows in second place, but eight points behind, the Monegasque Mascalzone, in strong recovery thanks to the excellent partials centered in the last two races today (8-1-2) and the Russian entry Tavatuy of the already twice World Champions led by Pavel Kuznetsov, third only one point away from Mascalzone.

Homanit and Heat, fifth and sixth overall, continue to battle in the Corinthian division, even if today Maximilian Stein's boat has lengthened its pace thanks to two third places (3-7-3), standing now ahead of Heat by 5 points. 

Racing will resume tomorrow at 10. The intention of the Race Committee, compatibly with the weather conditions that are expected to be lighter than the previous days, is to complete two races as per schedule.
